IRONMAN CALGARY 70.3 NEWBIE CATEGORY

The Calary 70.3 Ironman has a great new Category for 2010. It's called the Newbie Category. Many people have requested this category for those who are just starting out and are not quite comfortable swimming in the open water with so many people and the mass swim start.


The new category is for Ironman 70.3 Virgins and is open to all ages. Entries in this new class will be in the last wave start. There will be lots of support from the many enthusiastic volunteers as well as technical support where needed.


The cut-times will be the same as all the other wave starts and participants in this new category will not be eligible for age-group awards and cannot qualify for Clearwater.

The whole idea is to be able to relax and finish the 70.3 distance.

This is a great idea and it gives these new triathletes an invaluable opportunity to take part in this great event.
